Crimean War Wargaming workshop. -available

The Crimean war unearthed through a table top recreation of the Battle of Balaclava.

Learn about the causes leading to the war, the armies involved and the major battles of this famous though misunderstood conflict. Afterwards take to the field to wargame and recreate one of the most well known battles of the war, taking command of the Light brigade, the Heavy brigade and the Thin red line.

Meet an ensign, a junior officer of the 42nd Highland Regiment as he tells of his experience in the British army of General Wellington from the years 1812-1814.

Listen as he recounts his tales of action in Spain fighting against the French, discover more about the kit, equipment and daily life of a common soldier in the Napoleonic British army, as well as that of an officer charged with protecting the regimental colours, and learn more about the Napoleonic wars from its roots in the French Revolution right up to its conclusion at Waterloo.

Meet a Napoleonic officer and gentleman as he tells of life in regency times (1811-1815), his experiences in the army and at home.

A full afternoon of historic emersion, try Napoleonic military drill of the time and have a go at some regency dancing. Learn how people lived in this contrasting time of battles and balls, both the commoners and the aristocracy.
